Oil filter wrench
I just changed oil on my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins. Some genius engineer put the oil filter in a nearly inaccessible place. I took my regular oil filter wrench, cut the handle off it, and welded two old sockets on the stub so I could slip it up in there and get the thing off and back... more »

[link] Specifically the base: The description says "turned brass". In 1600, would it have been turned from a large brass chunk? Would it have been rough-cast first and then "cleaned up" by turning? If turned, presumably this would... more »

OT: Patio party lighting
In nice weather I entertain and BBQ in my courtyards at least twice a week. Yes, you're all welcome, bring beer or some nice cheese! Last year I had a few temporary spotlights illuminating some of the trees but the light was too harsh in some areas and too minimal in others. The courtyards are... more »
